Local M.C. Richard Raw and saxophonist Alvin Alexander visited youth in the Bethel Villa section of Wilmington, Delaware. Rich, a Wilmington native and Founder of The Cultural Restoration Project inspired the young audience with words and beats from the heart. He stressed the importance of team work, self-confidence, and knowing your history. The lyricist asked each child their interests and career goals. Although, many were shy, and somewhat nervous, Rich enjoined them to "never be afraid to stand in front of a group of people and show them what you can do. You never know who is in that audience." He proved the value of team work with the help of student participation. One young man volunteered to drum a beat, another volunteered to dance, while Rich freestyled. His lyrics encouraged each student to accept and nourish their individual goals. Local saxophonist and parent volunteer, Alvin, played melodic tunes. He also told the enthusiastic group how he was teased as a child for playing the sax. But he encouraged them to continue in their musical endeavors and personal aspirations. Janelle Shah, also with the Cultural Restoration Project, rewarded the children with special treats.
